San Antonio de Calonge![]()

San Antonio is one of those old fishing villages that has grown by leaps and bounds due to the tourist boom. It is a bit Miami beach-ish, with plenty of modern buildings... but if it is popular with tourists, it is because of the exceptional quality of the beach here, with a quite elegant beach-front promenade full of low-key cafes and restaurant. The beaches are very well kept, with showers, play grounds for the kids, floating platforms to swim out to, and an endless variety of water sports available, from water-skiing to water-hang-gliding. Within a few minutes walk to the south there are some of those picture postcard pine-backed beaches for which the Costa Brava is justly famous. And just inland from the beach scene is the lovely coastal plain backed by pristine pine forests.
The town of San Antonio has grown into nearby Palamós, and between them there are more restaurants and tapas bars than you could possibly visit in months. San Antonio is in the middle of the new highway linking Girona Airport, looping around the coast to Northern Girona passing through La Bisbal, and is very well communicated to the rest of the Costa Brava. ![]()
