Costa Brava apartments : Can Massanes Feedback on Can Massanes----- Original Message ----- From: Anna Moore To: Charles Williams Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2005 12:36 PM Subject: RE: can massanes Just wanted to say thanks for the lovely holiday we had in the Can Massanes apartment. It was an easy drive from Girona airport, your instructions made it very simple, and it was in such a pretty little hamlet. Can Massanes itself is so much prettier than the pictures on your site, all old and stone and Spanish and authentic, the apartment was very comfortable and cool despite the heat (brick, stone, beams etc).. Even though it was 'full' and peak season, it was quiet and lazy and relaxed. When we didn't manage to leave the place for the day, we had the pool to ourselves. Everyone apart from us was Spanish and very friendly - depite our inability to speak to the language. When we left, Senorita Carmen and her husband gave us this enormous bag of the biggest, juiciest tomatoes to last us the rest of our holiday! Our second week was in a foreign owned apartment in a beach resort and it seemed quite a come down and took a bit of adjusting after Can Massanes. Our only regret is that we left it until our last night at Can Massanes to actually have dinner there. The children loved going into this big room, sitting at this huge family table with the red checked table cloth, and those lovely, simple dishes, pasta, ribs, salads, etc. It cost a lot less than everywhere else we'd eaten too! If we go back to Northern Spain (which we definietly plan to), we'll definitely go through you so thanks again, Anna ----- Original Message ----- From: Willie To: Charlie Sent: Tuesday, November 09, 2004 7:53 AM Subject: Re: can massanes It was a pleasure to find a part of Spain that remains faithful to its heritage and is unspoilt by the kind of tourism found on the coasts. Can Massanes may no longer be a working farm, but the superb meals are served in a huge arched cattle shed while the grandparents smile benignly in the kitchen. A cultural treat that should be selfishly preserved as a secret. It was a really great place and we couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay. Please convey our thanks to Senyora Carmen. Despite having some difficulty conversing with her because of our inability to speak Catalan she made us very welcome and is a wonderful cook. We had three lovely evening meals with her and with the help of her daughter she and her other guests really made us feel just like one of the family. We really did enjoy it and I only hope that we will be able to repeat the experience again sometime in the future. Once again then, many thanks for your help in arranging it. All the best. Regards, Bob & Barbara Lark. ----- Original Message ----- From: Avi Tal To: Charles Williams Sent: Sunday, October 22, 2000 12:46 PM Subject: Thanks Dear Charlie, We are safely at home after a wonderful vacation in Catalonia, and back to the riots and political problems in Israel. I wish to thank you behalf of me and my family for the accommodation suggestions in Barcelona and Can Massanes. Both were nice and high quality, good location and fitted our necessities. Your directions to the places were very precise and helped us a lot. Also Judit and Carmen were nice and helpful hostesses. Again, we enjoyed very much our visit in Catalonia, recommended your web site to our friends, and hopefully came again sometime. Sincerely yours, Avi.
