Hi Charlie,

Mas Ros was great accomodation and we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room and en suite bathroom were excellent and very clean throughout. The meals were also great and the helpings were large.

The only small critism that we had was that there was no air conditioning and it was therefore quite hot in the evenings.

Overall great stay at Mas Ros

Hello Charlie, just back in the office and thought I would send you a quick note. I’ll send more formal comments for your web site when the jet lag has worn off.

We had a wonderful time and soooo loved exploring Catalonia. Your Guidebook was amazing.

Just one thing….and I was hoping you could ask Dolors this for us as we were in a rush to leave to make our flight. The other couple (the Stemmlers) had lost a silver ring……and they think perhaps it could have been left in their room by accident. If Dolors finds it can you let us know….Stephanie will send a postage paid envelope if she finds it. She bought it in Spain and is sad she lost it.

I’ll be in touch again soon.
Thanks again for everything.
Cheers

Charlie,

1 week since our return from Catalunya I thought it about time to give you some feedback on our holiday to Mas Ros.

Firstly thanks for your help in putting our trip together, you will certainly be hearing from us again.

Your directions were spot on & it was a relief to find our accommodation relatively easily form Girona Airport.

Mas Ros was a delightful unspoiled spot in which to base ourselves while in the region. Could not fault the cleanliness & service of all concerned. Although the breakfasts were fine I would like to have seen more variation form day to day in the content of food on offer, becoming a bit repetative towards the end of the week (admittedly the Orange Juice was a great pick me up first thing in the morning).

All tolled we enjoyed our holiday & appreciated that the region is not all fish & chips and Karaoke Bars, far from it we really did get a flavour of local culture & experiences.

Thanks again to all concerned for making our stay an enjoyable one, & we would have no hesitation in recommending your services to family & friends in the future.

best wishes
Scott, Debbie & Darren

We had a good time at Mas Ros, a lovely house and our room was very comfortable. Could you possibly thank Dolors for looking after us so well. Back at work now in an autumnal England with a head full of happy memories of Barcelona and Catalunya.

Hi Charlie

Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Mas Ros. Your directions to the house were spot on no trouble at all finding it. The house itself was beautiful and we would definitely recommend it, the peaceful location was lovely considering it was just off the N11 and ideally located for touring the region.

Once again many thanks for your help in arranging our accomodation.

Dear Charlie,

We returned from our trip to Barcelona and the Costa Brava recently. You had arranged a room for us at Mas Ros and asked for feedback. We were very satisfied with the place: The house is charming, the room was spacious and nicely furnished, the atmosphere friendly and Dona Dolors tabled delicious and sumptuous dinners. We found Mas Ros very conveniently located to allow for daytrips to the coast and to the mountains. We appreciated the quiet setting and the green scenary. Thank you for indicating us this B&B which we can warmly recommend.

In case you wish to use this comment on your website, please be so kind and do not show my email address.

Best regards

Charlie,

Mas Ros was a very good choice for our short stay in Catalonia. It is centrally located with Barcelona around 120 K away and Girona less than 20 K. Our goal was to see as much of the area as we could in the 4 days so we didn't get to eat dinner at Mas Ros other than the first night. That dinner was excellent with a huge steak and very good red wine - I would expect to pay much more for a similar meal anywhere else. Breakfasts added to the atmosphere with local sausages and the tomato soaked bread. The rooms were very large with a very rustic appearance of old Spain, but with all the comforts of home. All the halls, stairways and dining areas were kept spotless and the room was cleaned daily.

My only regret is that I couldn't speak Spanish other than hello or goodbye. Dolors was a great host - if I'm ever in the area I will definitely stay there again.

The left turn sign to Olives has either been replaced or the vegetation cleared. It was clearly marked and even had a newly painted left turn lane.

Thanks.
Dan & Mira Ferguson

Dear Charlie,

Just had a great holiday. Very pleased with Mas Ros, just a little lonely when we were there all on our own, but it did mean we could skinny dip!

Enjoyed the extracts from your guide to the area.

Hi Charlie, you may remember that Jan Tillott and I stayed at Mas Ros in September and I promised to give you feedback. Your directions were excellent and we found Mas Ros with no trouble. Our first impression was the tranquillity that surrounds this attractive property. After having spent two weeks on the coast it was a pleasure to be able to hear yourself think. It is beautifully situated to the north of Gerona and is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.

We were amazed at how many places of historical interest were no more than a thirty minute drive away. The house itself was spacious, very clean and with a lot of the amenities that you would find in a good hotel. The pool was a welcome extra after a days sightseeing. Dolors was very welcoming, and even though she has limited English, we were able to converse with a mixture of Spanish, French and Italian. We feasted on her excellent breakfast which comprised food from the large farm that the family own. Likewise we ate there most nights on basic but tasty local produce and drank their home produced wine. The breakfast room contained a large fridge were an honesty system worked for the likes of beer, water and fizzy drinks. Altogether an excellent B&B. If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards and thank you, Alex.

Charlie,

Hi, we just got back to the US, and want to thank you and let you know that we had a wonderful time at Mas Ros. The house was magnificent, and the Dolors' hospitality was unbelievable. Dolors' cooking was so good, we had dinner there every night. While we were at the house, we hiked, played aroung the pool, and spent a lot of time in the terrace with our one-year old son. And we drove around to other towns near by, there were so much to do.

After having spent time in Frankfurt and Barcelona, we needed to get away from the city, and this was just perfect. We can't seem to thank Dolors enough for being so nice and kind to us. She had made our trip to Spain very enjoyable and rememberable. We look forward to take another trip back to Mas Ros in the near future.

Thank you very much for your recommendation to Mas Ros,

Josh, Thuy, and Wes

Dear Charlie,

How are you? I'm not sure if you remember me, but you had helped me book a room at Mas Ros last July (I responded on an old email, so you'll have something to reference who I am!). It's been a while, but you had asked if I would send you some feedback on my stay. Better late than never....

Even after 6 months, my memory of Mas Ros hasn't faded -- it's a really special place. The house is wonderfully kept, with all new fixtures, and the room we had was very spacious. With its quiet setting and laid-back atmosphere, it was a welcome retreat after spending time in the city (Barcelona). Unfortunately, we weren't there long enough to enjoy all the house had to offer, but my husband did get in the pool one day (too cold for me!).

I especially enjoyed the privacy of Mas Ros; in fact, I don't think I heard or saw any other guests outside of breakfast each morning, and I'm sure the house was filled. The location of the house is perfect for day trips -- especially for people who don't like to spend their entire vacation on the beach (one day is great....two days and I'm bored out of my mind). We were easily able to visit the coast, the mountains, Southern France, Girona, Figueras, and all the hidden places in between. Again, I just wish we had allowed more time there.

I'm not sure if you're looking for more specific feedback, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. Thank you again, and I look forward to my next visit to Spain!

Take care,
Laura

Hello Charlie,

Our stay at Mas Ros went very well. It was very easy to find from your directions. Mas Ros itself was very comfortable, an impressive house in very peaceful surroundings. We ate there must evenings and the food was excellent. We were very taken with the beauty of the countryside and are looking for a chance to visit again - a few days doesn't even scratch the surface.

The Avis car hire was about 26 pounds per day for an Ibiza. Easyjet were offering 9 pounds per day but the pick up point is in the city centre. Worse yet the car comes complete with a hugh Easyjet sticker on each side.

With many thanks for your help.

Why inland farmhouse rental?

Not only is it simply nicer to stay in an old restored farmhouse, but also …

  • eco-tourism helps preserve traditional ways of life
  • agro-tourism revitalizes depopulated villages
  • sustainable tourism controls the environmental impact (of tourism)
  • package tour operators leave little to nothing in local economy
  • mass tourism is an abomination - just look at so much of our coasts!
