hello Charlie, I hope your stay in London is going/went well.

I just wanted to let you know what a lovely time we had had Capsec de la vila. It was a wonderful place that really suited us, and the pool was a dream for these kids under 8. We couldn't keep them out of it. Ana and Joaquin are totally charming and struck a great balance between helpful and discreet. There are various ramshackle elements to the house, but I prefer that as I find it stressful to be in an environment where you're scared of breaking anything. The area is a real undiscovered gem. It was great to go to the market in Olot and not hear English people braying about the fabulous cheeses, as is the case just about anywhere in France. If I had one suggestion, it would be that it might be useful to have a guide to the house including boring things like how the washing machine works! I also enjoy reading visitor's comments about local walks and recommendations (we went on a brilliant one for children which took about an hour and got us to the top of a mountain with a castle ruins). This might be difficult though since I gather that the majority of the visitors are non-English speakers.

We used your guide loads and I love its tone. We felt quite bereft if we left the house without it.

I'm going to write an email to Ana when my Spanish is feeling up to it but in the meantime do please pass on my thanks and regards.

Thanks to you too for all your help. I'd love to go back.

You are right, no news are good news.

We enjoyed the house,the family, the horses, the suroundings, the good restaurants in the neighbourhood, the great marked in Olot and and.... One of us is a star chef. He served us serveral excelent dinners under the threes in garden, made of all the lockal food.

Sitting today thinking 10 month back, I remember the long marbel table (heavy) under the thees with a white cloth, good wine and excelent food, good friends...

& if I ask the children, they will say the pool, the view from the pool, the play in the pool - they lost a thin freesbee in the crack of the poolside and they spend a lot of good time trying to get it out, it was very good fun.

Everything was just fine!

Everyone had a great time at the Villa in Spain.
We found it very conveniently located to explore the area - including trips to the beach, Pyrnees and Barcelona.

The house itself was up to expectations and very comfortable.
Everyone enjoyed the dogs, the young one being especially friendly.

Cap Sec was perfect for us. We enjoyed our surroundings immensely.

La Vila was very beautiful indeed and the pool was more fantastic than we'd ever imagined.

We had a divine meal for 11 at San Salvator; our best night out, by far. And we'd also recommend you try the apparently re-styled restaurant Les Cols in Olot. Ambitious and fascinating food. A mezmerizing ambience.

Our vacation at Capsec is over - we had a wonderful time and are 100% satisfied. I hope you'll forgive us our somewhat suspecting initial attitude - Internet still doesn't inspire much confidence.

Our pictures have turned out excellent, so as long as Ana's japanese photographer doesn't come up with the goods, I'm always willing to send a couple of ours for reference ;-)

On the driving instructions ; the exit number to take past the border is indeed #3. Closer to Olot, there's a motorway in full construction. You first need to get past the 'Olot est' exit, then take the next one. This drops you off at the round point where you take the direction Camprodon. The rest is still valid, including the annoying traffic lights ... .

The binder with regional information was a great plus - two weeks are just enough to start scratching it... . The hilight for us was the driving instructions to get us smoothly into central Barcelona. We've done a lot worse last weekend finding a country village in Belgium.

I doubt we can give you any new restaurant info, which I suspect from the binder to be your key interest point, but we had a brilliant meal & fantastic service in Barcelona, 'La Vinateria del Cal' www.lavinateria.com Do try the Rioja Placet white, I'm looking for an importer here.

Here is a bit you could use about Capsec:

Capsec is in a beautiful setting. We had planned a lot of day trips but ended upbeing content to just hang out at the house. We were two families with four children aged 4 and under and the the house was perfect for all our needs (apart from maybe the washing machine....)The animals were a great source of entertainment; the horses, dogs and Ana encouraged us to collect our own eggs for breakfast. The pool is like a "beach" and meant the children could splash at the edge. Two of them learnt to swim while we were there! We barbecued most evenings and ate out at lunchtimes since we're big fans of the menu del dia. Olot had everything we needed - we pretty much stocked up for the week at the Monday market. It is a pretty town to wander round and very friendly.

Nearby the house, (turning left at the end of the driveway) is a river pool that we swam in - freezing but fun. The local restaurnants were great but writing from a parent's point of view I'd have to say the simpler ones were more welcoming and prepared to cater for the children. All in all we had a great stay, loved the owners of Capsec and were really impressed with your efficient and personal service - we are recommending it to everyone!
