the upstairs living room, around which the rooms are distributedCan Barceló is a large farmhouse situated on the outskirts of Vilobí d'Onyar, in the region of la Selva, about 12 kilometers southsest of Girona, and about 20 km from the beaches of the Costa Brava. There is documentary evidence of this house since the 14th century, and nowadays the main agricultural activity here is walnut and cereals crops, and the charming owners, Pilar and Quim, live next door. Quim grows delicious walnuts, and Pilar is town librarian and teaches culinary arts at a local cooking school, so she knows a thing or two about Catalan cuisine.



the downstairs entrance and sitting areaAlong with cozy and well-decorated rooms - two of which have private bath and each distributed far apart from one another on the four corners of the large central living room with sofas and fireplace, this house has a large downstairs part consisting of the flagstone-paved entrance with antique farm implements as decoration, a full kitchen, a barrel-vaulted dining room, and the downstairs bathroom with shower. A new fifth bedroom with double bed was added in May 2003, downstairs by the main entrance, near the downstairs bathroom. This is a good room for those who want to avoid the using the stairs, and of course the bathroom is right next door.

Golfers should also keep this place in mind as it is 10 kilometers from the new 18-hole PGA Championship Golf Course at Caldes de Malavella, and within 20 kms of another 7 courses, and the entire region is full of spas where you can "take the waters"... not the mention the excellent restaurants in this area...
