We all had a wonderful time in Casa Nova de Ferrando. The house, gardens and pool were magnificent: the photos just could not possibly do it justice!

The owners were really welcoming when we arrived, and very discreet during our stay. The extra touches like washing-up liquid/dishwasher powder under the sink, and the cool beer in the fridge was much appreciated.



Our party consisted of 6 adults, and 8 children. The children ranged in age from 15 down to 3. They all made themselves at home very quickly, and had a ball.

With so many different seating areas both inside and out, everyone seemed to be able to find their own space.

As the swimming pool is fenced off from the house, it was very easy to ensure the kid's safety too.

The village too was perfect. We managed to find all the ingredients there for wonderful barbeques at the house (The deli was excellent). We were very surprised at the excellent facilities available in the community centre. Good food; computers for the older kids, and an outdoor play area for the little ones added up to a very plesant evening for all. The locals were also quite welcoming, and even taught us some Catalan!

All in all we had a super week. The only regret we all had, was that 1 week was too short! We have vowed to return though.

My little 3 year old is already asking when are we going back to 'our' holiday house in Spain!!

Charlie, a special word of thanks to you, for your 'straight talking' honest description of the house. From the minute I got in touch with you, you made booking this holiday (and getting there) very easy.

The stay in Casanova de Ferrando was excellent again, this year!

The new dining room was terrific. Luckily (?) we didn't have to use it, thanks to the ever shining Catalan sun.

Next year there will be no Catalan tour for us. Perhaps in 2007 once more.

Just a quick note to say we had a wonderful time and really liked the house - its large, with a beautiful garden and pool. The owners Magi and Monserrat were both informative and kind and had just finished the most wonderful extension - a light filled dining room that easily sits 20. I took up your recommendation with regards to Epicurean Cuisine and they cooked us really good food. Jools and Ant cook wonderfully and are both reliable and excellent value. I would recommend both the house and caterers to friends without reservation. If I had any niggles (and this is being picky) I think the house could do with a new washing machine and the showers with new shower heads but this in no way distracted from our holiday

We’ve been meaning to write a few words about our holiday at Casanova de Ferrando, but as usual time flies and suddenly months have past.... But better late than never :-)

Things went very well at Casanova de Ferrando – we found the house easily from your directions, Montse and Magi came and met us and were very welcoming, the house and garden exceeded our expectations. We were a total of 15 people at most, but still the house never felt crowded. We had 4 cars, went on lots of day-trips, and had much use for your excellent guide of the area – much more detailed than for example Rough Guide. We also tried the restaurant which you didn’t like – and thought it was OK. And we can absolutely recommend the paella from the butcher – it was delicious!

The 10 best things about the house: Ensuite bathrooms to all the rooms. Perfect sized swimmingpool with lots of toys for kids (and kids aged 30-something). Wonderful longtable in beautiful settings in the garden, perfect for 2 hour lunches with cheese, olive and wine. Beautiful garden with lots of flowers (I’ve taken a bunch of pictures, and especially loved the magnolia-trees). Montse and Magi – the perfect hosts, descrete but with a helping hand if needed (for example as spanish-speaking directions to the driver that delivered the luggage that was lost for 2 days). The extra toilet on the ground floor, so that the bathroom on the ground floor weren’t used by anyone others than the couple staying there. The washingmachine, which was quite necessary. The barbecue – we used it A LOT (The sausages from the local butcher were delicious!). The stereo with a cd-player, and the fact that we could play music loud without bothering any neighbours. A very clean and fresh house – the people Montse and Magi use know their trade.

I guess the only drawback is that the kitchen’s a little bit too small for preparing meals for such a large group of people. But as the weather was warm, most of our cooking were done at the barbecue, so it wasn’t a problem.

I don’t think the pictures of the house and garden on your site does the place justice, so I’ve attatched a few pictures – feel free to use them if you want to. Especially the garden looks a bit naked on your pictures, but I suppose it has grown a bit since you first were there...

We especially liked your personal comments and dry remarks on your site – it gives your site quite a lot more personality compared to other sites. It’s also very nice to have a person, instead of a company to communicate with – it makes one feel more special, and then more committed to the agreement. If we decide to go to Costa Brava again, we will certainly make use of your services again. So thank you so much for a great holiday – and give our best to Montse and Magi!

We loved the house and will think about renting it again. Ideal for a large group in a great location where you can have fun and not worry about disturbing the neighbours!!

Plus points being the pool and outside area,all the rooms being en-suite, privacy as room are in different 'wings' of the house, large dining table, good utility room/laundry facilities, well equipped kitchen, TVs/CD player for those who want and proximity to shops and pitch and putt.

No real grumbles, minor comments were...... suggest umbrellas and stands for by pool. Kitchen small for size of house but we managed fine. Maps would be helpful for location of large Supermarkets. Could they organise a deal for people renting to have discounts on the golf? We spent a fortune in fees !

The owners were more than helpful, great having all ' emergency ' information provided. Your assistance and directions were really helpful and accurate. Thank you so much for your work.
The area is great. We really liked Girona and want to visit again.

Casanova de Ferrando was real fun!! The owners Magi and Montserrat were so nice to us, we did a very good thing by bringing dutch tulip-bulbs for Montserrat, who was very exited because she is a enthousiastic gardener. Magi was very nice too. He came often in the morning to take care of the swimmingpool and he was a very gentle host. The house is beautiful, the rooms are perfect and big, and, although our group was quite large, everyone had his privacy. Imagine, the reason why we went to Catalonia was the tour of the dutch cobla-orchestra Cobla La Principal dÁmsterdam. They had to play 17 concerts in 16 days in different places!! Besides the cobla-members, the group existed of their partners, husbands, wifes etc. There were also a few children, in total 20 people. The good thing was that the partners etc. could stay home while the cobla had to play a concert somewhere, or they could decide to join the cobla during a concert. With children, such a house like Casanova the Ferrando is really perfect, because it is big enough, the pool was very popular (how could it not…it was so hot in July) and everyone had enough space for him- or herself. Actually, we had nothing to complain about. The only thing was, that the washingmachine failed after two weeks, I think it was an old machine. But that is actually the only thing that really broke down. Casanova de Ferrando is a perfect place, in a quiet area, close to the shops and Gerona, so not to far from the living world, with enough privacy for each guest.

Here are a couple of comments about what has come to be known to us as THE BIG HOUSE, It's not easy to find a house that lives up to it's write up on the web. But THE BIG HOUSE does just that. When you read that it stands alone, it does stand alone on a graceful setting of tranquility surrounded by trees, grass, flowers and the grace of Fonells De La Selva. although the area invites you to visit the surrounding areas, it's hard to leave THE BIG HOUSE, as it is well made up and we all felt as though it belonged to us. In fact when we left we felt that the next people comming in were comming to stay at Our BIG HOUSE till we return the next year. THE BIG HOUSE speaks volumes for it self. WE Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and by the way Charlie, We want to rent it again next June for about the same time peroid. Can you let me know what the price is now and how much deposit I need to send. also we were led to believe that it was 9 bedrooms, but as it turned out we had only 8 and two people had to double up. We would like to have all 9 bedrooms next time if we could. Please let me know. You can post my comments if you like. I look foward to hearing from you.
