Hello,

I was writing to see if Casa de la Fuente is available in March for a week's rental. We stayed there last year in April and it was really a wonderful week. We would be interested in renting the house for the week of March 20th or 27th. There will probably be about 8 of us staying there.
thank you,
Elizabeth Fanning

Sue,

We left for Spain on the 16th and got back this evening, so missed your message. We were 11 in all (12 on two nights when another of our older kids joined) and managed fine by using the two sofa beds in the living room.

We had a marvelous time. The first few moments were amazing as we kept discovering all those rooms and of course the dining hall was the piece de resistance. We put all the cutlery and crockery back and stripped the beds, and hopefully left all as tidy as we got it.

My mother watered the plants that were under cover which would not have got much rain from the storm on Saturday afternoon.

My husband and brother even managed to get quite good at turning the cars around at the upper parking area.

My mother will post you the key on Monday from the UK
Many thanks for a marvelous time.
Virginia

I am also going to quote in full the letter from Virginia´s mother, Mrs Eastwood:

"I am enclosing the key to Casa de la Fuente and also a cheque for you to replace the pretty blue salad bowl which I broke just before leaving the house.

We had a wonderful holiday, the house is lovely, so comfortable, gorgeous views, ancient and yet all the mod cons - a very historical area. We even walked up to the monastery. The children enjoyed the rock pol, snorkelling, water clear. We visited many old villages and of course the Salvador Dali museum. It was great having all the information you gave us so we could plan each day. The dinner at Sra Victoria's (village cafe, now open until end sept.) was fantastic and the fact that we could walk home after it made it even more enjoyable.

Many thanks for everything. I do hope the person in charge found everything in order"

We had the most wonderful stay in your beautiful house. We thought we had died and gone to heaven. I don't think I have ever slept in a room as beautiful and with such a view! Not to mention the wonderful bird sounds. My daughter said exactly the same about her room (the other double from the internal stairs).

We had a very relaxing time in Casa de la Fuente, it was almost impossible to remember the 'outside world' when we were there. It was like a paradise.

Fatima and her husband were enormously kind and helpful when they arrived just before we left, they kept insisting we didn't need to wipe down counters or clean etc.

I hope we left everything in order and that we will be able to return in future.
Thank you again for renting us your lovely house.
The Cullen family.

Hi Charlie,

Casa de la Fuente was our home for a month in the fall in 2003. It was a great place with lots of room and a huge kitchen...although not attached to the house. We found this to be a bit of a problem as we had a small child, whom needed to be asleep when we were eating, and we were reluctant to leave him upstairs, by himself. The back patio was beautiful and where we spent most of our time. The areas around were great. Figueres was a short trip, as were several beach areas. Loved the Dali museum...to the point where our son went as Dali for Halloween when we got home! There was lots of room in the house, and at times we had up to 10 sleeping there. A car is a definite necessity as the walk to anywhere was quite long. The scenery of the monastery each day, as well as the drive down to the main road, in which the sea was visible, were spectacular. There were a few places to eat, more in Port de la Selva, and better off the main strip. No one spoke much english, but somehow we were able to make ourselves understood. The people in the towns were very eager to please. We loved Catalonia, and the many places we visited. We will definitely return to Spain in the future, although not to the same spot...because we've seen everything there! If someone is looking for a relaxing, near the water holiday...this is a great place to come!!

Allison

Dear Charles

I promised you a review of Casa de la Fuente, so here it is. This is a perfect place to stay if you read ¨A Year in Provence¨, and that type of vacation appeals to you. The village is very small, only about 15 houses, off the beaten track hidden amoung the mountains. There really is nothing to do in the village, except to sit and smell the roses. I mean that litterally, since the garden behind the house is absolutely wonderful with roses, and many flowering vines, bushes and trees, including 2 orange trees and a lemon tree. However, it is only 2 km to the main road and another 2 km to a quaint village on the sea, Port de la Selva. The beaches were quiet, but that may have been the time of year. We found several good restaurants in the nearby towns. The house is a bit quirky, with rooms on various floors that have to entered from outside. But it is very charming and grows on you (very unpretentious from the outside - street side). The kitchen/dining room is on the lower floor, a bit cave like. When the weather is hot, I am sure it would be nice and cool there. There were a few minor problems that would be encountered in any old house, but nothing serious. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and would go back again.

I hope this helps.
Mary
PS. The San Joan apt (in Barcelona) is also a hit for the same reasons, but I will ask those who stayed there to write that review.
