Hello Charlie, Rosa, Josep and Antonio,

I am most happy to let all of you know how much we enjoyed our 2 week holiday at Can Tapies. From the first day we arrived Josep and his family were gracious and helpful. The home was just beautiful and our entire family, which ranged in age from 13 to 80 years of age, loved it. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor patio and cooking facilities and saw the most beautiful double rainbow one night while we were having dinner. Can Tapies is well situated to many of the best sites in Catalonia. I fell in love with Girona and visited it over and over again. My family has vacationed together for 12 years and this vacation ranks as one of our very favorites. I thank Rosa, Josep and Antonio for their wonderful hospitality and attentiveness without being intrusive..... a fine, but important balance. I would recommend Can Tapies to anyone who asked, and hope that I will have the opportunity to come back again.

Please feel free to use my e-mail on your website or wherever you would like. Thank you again for an absolutely wonderful vacation. Best,

Karen Frisch

Hi Charlie,

Sorry for how late this email is, but we wanted to give you some feedback on our stay in Mas Dalt and Can Tapies in October.

Both houses were absolutely spectacular, we were delighted with the amount of room, the facilities, the design, and of course the beautiful gardens, both of which had a great swimming pool.

The area around the houses was lovely as well, and the view from the terrace of Mas Dalt was spectacular.

The houses were absolutely perfect for a large group gathering, there was more than enough room for everyone and plenty to do.

The location was also great, close enough to Girona that it was easy for some people to fly over just for the weekend, but far enough away from the city to be out in the middle of the countryside, but with a town near enough that shopping for supplies was easy.

Also if you could pass on our thanks to the owners, they were very friendly and extremely helpful all weekend without being in any way intrusive, basically the perfect hosts!

All in all everyone who stayed in the house was blown away by it and we couldn't have been happier with how it all went, we're all already looking forward to returning next year.

Once again thanks for all your help, and of course feel free to put this email up in the review section of your website.

Cheers,
Robin, Ronan, Sarah, Brian and Liz.

Just to let you know that the villa was wonderful. The conversion was of a very high standard, the en suite to every bedroom was a luxury

The adults slept in the downstairs room, except for Eve and Steve who had the top flat for her self and the two babies. My 12 year old gra ndaughter fell in love witrh the blue room. Every one of the children found a room tha t they liked and there was no arguing!

We used mostly the middle kitchen and all 17 of us could eat on tha adjoining patio area. The shopped and cooked and washed up and cleared, I let them get opn with it. The two washing machines cames in handy! The cleaning swad should have appeciated that we did not use the Bques! The children occupied the TV I have no idea what they were watching

The pool area was lovely, very thoughtful to have a shower and WC down there.

It is a lovely area and there seemed no end to the number of medaeval towns that we could have visited It is interesting that Spain having expelled all its Jews in 1492, it is now reviving anything and everything that they can find, the Jewish Museum in Girona was a wonderful example of a splendid Museum with very few objects, though tp see the actual gravestone of the Ramban was extraordinary.

You are free to quote my apreciaton if you would like to do so

Dear Charlie,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, Rosa and the rest of the team for a truly exceptional and memorable holiday. The villas were of the highest standard; impeccably clean, beautifully presented and with lots of charm and character. Rosa and her helpers could not have done more to make us feel welcome and their attentiveness and willingness to help went far beyond our expectations.

We had a brilliant two weeks and we are already planning our return to the villas. I know I speak on behalf of all my Friends and family when I say thank you for such a special and unforgettable holiday that will fill us with happy memories for many years to come.

Please feel free to use any of the above on your website.

Thanks again and we look forward to organising another holiday with you in the future.

Kind regards,
Kate Felton

Review of Can Tapies and Mas Dalt- Better late than never!

We stayed at Mas Dalt and Can Tapies in September 2008. It was literally the best three days of my life and although this might sound like an exageration, it really isn´t!! This was partly due to the fact we got married on the Saturday afternoon and spent the rest of the weekend celebrating with friends and family so of course that made it a very magical weekend, but was also due to the beauty of the place, the niceness of Rosa and Josep and the amazing weather. The two houses are amazing- stunning views, beautiful pools and loads of communal space inside and out so you could have a good holiday whatever the weather. All the rooms are clean and nice although some are a bit dark but this is very typical of Spanish houses and actually an advantage on a hot day. Our favourite things from each house were

Mas Dalt
- Massive terrace area for eating and lounging around on.
- brilliant pool with fantastic views

Can Tapies
-has a table tennis table and games room which went down well with everyone,
-huge hall where a large group can sit and eat
-again a beautiful pool and gardens
- 2 BBQs

I would highly recommend both properties. I think they are both ideal for getting a big group together because as I said there is so much communal space. However if you wanted to rent one of the smaller apartments you would have a lot of privacy. The countryside around the villas is stunning and you are only twenty minutes drive from Girona which is gorgeous and 10 from Banyoles which is also very pretty with a beautiful lake.

bonjour Charlie

bien amicalement

Hello Charlie,

Please feel free to add my comments to the page. I do not need to be anonymous.

We had a great time at Can Tapies. We ended up with a slightly smaller party than planned, which meant that we ended up with lots of space. Highlights of the house were:

- The pool - lovely water, nice pool-side areas and changing shower room. The kids spent a lot of time here
- The terraces and views. We spent plenty of time sitting out eating and drinking
- The rooms were very spacious and nicely furnished. The en-suites were all excellent.
- We mostly ate in the house. The kitchens were all well equipped and all the appliances worked and were easy to use.

The area around Can Tapies is lovely. Banyoles and the lake were great for wandering and running. We had a couple of pleasant trips to the coast, although we didn't think too much of the beach at Estartit.

(Charlie adds; yes you´re right! As my guidebook makes clear, that is not a good beach. Abrupt deep water and strong undertow. Much nicer and closer to the house is the beach just north of L'Escala, at Empuries, and the sometimes windy duned beaches at the Golfo de Roses just above near Sant Pere Pescador, where you can still park your car on the beach, and there are some chiringuitos for food and drink right on the beach ...)

We received a very warm welcome from Rosa and, although we didn't need much assistance, she was very helpful and kindly repatriated our son's teddy bear.

Regards
Phil

Hello Charlie,

The weekend was fantastatic!

Here is my quote:
"The Spain Chapter of EO (entrepreneur´s organization) decided to hold its annual weekend retreat at Can Tapies. Absolutely every member of the Spain Chapter that attended the retreat was enthralled by the house, the surrounding forest and the history of the region! Our stay at Can Tapies will fondly be remembered for many years, especially the main living room where we all gathered until the wee hours in the morning and spoke of the trials and tribulations businesspeople have while trying to earn a living carrying out their dreams! The Can Tapies house was the perfect setting to do reflect upon our lives! "

I hope this helps.
André

Charlie,

I must email and tell you how pleased I and the other 19 guests were with Can Tapies. As one of my friends put it, “you hit a home run with this place”. We had a great time. We biked about 500 km. in 6 days so saw quite a bit of the region. Great biking area. Thanks again for all your help!

Charlie,

Can Tapies is incredible. What a beautiful place! We can't tell you how delighted we are. And tonight's meal was fabulous. We had such a variety of wonderful tapas and the paella was delicious, and so bountiful. Rosa couldn't be nicer. She even took some of us with her to Saturday evening Mass at the tiny church up the hill, a once-a-month service in a romanesque church that dates from 1097. Very cool. Tonight's stars and red moon are awesome.

Thank you so much!

Well, it is true that our family is able to really enjoy a good vacation! It does help when the location is so great. We are somewhat less successful with large, noisy and dirty cities. Even there, though, somehow we manage to have a good time. One of the best parts about being in Spain when we were was that it was right in the middle of Spain winning the Eurocup in football. What fun to be in Madrid on the night of the quarter-final match and in Barcelona when they won the final.

You are free to use my email however you wish. I hope you have lots of success renting these great properties. Please say hi to Rosa for us.

We all loved the place. It was great for our family reunion. The owner recommended that we eat at Can Mia - which turned out to be one of the greatest meals any of us had ever experienced. So, when people book it, make sure you mention Can Mia.

Hi Charlie,

We had two fantastic weeks at Can Tapies. The views, fantastic rooms and balcony in the main apartment were stunning and very relaxing.

The pool was fantastic and we spent a fair time in and by it over the holiday. The barbecue downstairs was well used by us and other guests who we shared a meal with (and maybe a few drinks!) and proved a good sociable area.

Grapes off the vine growing at the front of the house, walks in the forest, trips to Banyoles lake, barbecuing fish and trips to the beach = a blissful two weeks away from it all!!!

No real negatives, apart from Rosa needs to invest in more than 6 sun loungers by the pool! I’m sure she must realise that! They have missed a great opportunity to use the grass area by the pool (which is very rough and deeply rutted) as an excellent play area for kids / football.

(Charlie adds: there are now many more sun loungers and the football pitch is no longer rutted. The new pool has to settle in before landscaping around the pool could take place. Sorry about that!)

Anyhow – we tried talking to Rosa about returning next year for maybe three weeks – the main apartment again. She suggested we speak to you about this.

I shall grab some photos from my home server tonight and forward them to you soonest.

Hope all is well with you and your family.

Kind regards.

Ewan

Subject: Can Tapies and Pelacals

Charlie,

Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at the two locations. Both were wonderful, but for different reasons. Pelacals, a quiet farming hamlet, with rural bar, shops and friendly neighbour (with two chiwawas) so close to good restaurants and the beach… followed by a beautiful mansion in the hills with the ever helpful Rosa.

If it’s of any use for he web site here’s a photo of the completed pool, in which we spent a lot of time!

Best wishes, Adam
