Can Barracas is a restored old farmhouse on a huge farm, about 1 km off unpaved dirt track (but in good condition) from the quiet country road linking Casserres, 1 km away, to the market town of Gironella, 4 fast highway km away. While situated on a farm, there are no farm animals kept anywhere near the house, so don't worry about that! The level of comfort is high, the decoration tastefully done, nothing is missing, and now with the new spa, there should takers for this house year-round!

As you can see from the photos, the owners have restored the house quite nicely, with lively colored walls and tiles, and a slightly exotic, almost Moroccan touch in the decorations. Upon arriving to the villa, you can park in one of the three covered parking spaces located below the 60 m2 play area in front of the main house. This where the owners have the ping pong table, the football goal nets, and where the basketball hoops is hanging.

You pass the outdoor covered BBQ area, with wooden planked seating and food prep table in tile complete with a sink. On the other side of the house there is a terracotta terrace with some plastic tables and nice views across the valley. Indoors, on the ground floor, there is another sitting area with TV and some games. Up the rather handsome staircase and you come to the hallway around which the first floor is articulated.

To the right you have the kitchen and dining room area, a good sized room with a table seating up to 16 guests. The kitchen is well equipped and has dishwasher, gas oven and stove top, extractor, microwave, and the typical appliances, like toaster, juicer, Nespresso machine, etc.

On the other size of the stairway/hallway from the kitchen is a snug little living room with a couple of sofas, a game table, a TV with DVD player and video, and a one of those little portable HI-FI with CD/radio/cassette.

In the 1^st floor hallway between the living and the kitchen-dining room are two bedrooms.

• bedroom 1) with a (1.35×1.90m) and single bed (0.90×1.90m).
• bedroom 2) with a small double (1.35x2m).
• in the hallway between these two bedroom is a full bathroom with bathtub

On the 2^nd floor are the other four bedrooms:

• Bedroom nº3) Quadruple with private bath. 2 single beds (0.90×1.90m) and 1 queen bed (1.50×1.90m). Bathroom with shower
• Bedroom nº4) Small double bed (1.35x2m) and private bathroom with shower
• Bedroom nº5) Small double bed (1.35x2m).
• Bedroom nº6) Double room with sofa, chimney and TV. Queen bed (1.5x2m).
• 2 full bathrooms in the hallway with showers.

In a separate building over by the spa is:

• Bedroom nº7) a newly covered porch area near the spa, a romantic room with large double bed (1.50mx1.90m) & private kitchen and fireplace.

Extra beds available upon request. Beds for up to 19 guests.

The owners of this house also have own Can Cabanas and Vila de Bernades so they know what they are doing and they run a tight ship. I never get any complaints from their guests (to the contrary - see the Comments Pages for the other houses) and everything seems to work very well at their houses, with quality sheets and towels and good pool and garden maintenance.

So this place comes highly recommended, and with the addition of the new spa building, I am sure we'll be hearing a lot more about this house in the future!
